About Musings

Musings contains various posts relative to the Christian Walk:
Lessons Learned, Considerations and Principles of the Way.

LESSONS LEARNED
The postings in Lessons Learned are related to musings coming out of observations and experiences enjoyed during my 30-year career in operations and production management with Southern California Edison Company.  Very often when speaking, my conversations and stories open with, “When I worked for Edison….. ”  From those who know me all too well, that statement often solicits a roll of the eyes or grin and bear it smile. The musings in Lessons Learned are meant to capture in print my thoughts and experiences into a devotional read, reflections upon wisdom and understandings gained in my tenure with SCE.

All of life is a metaphor; things observed and experienced that say one thing, but speak to another. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.  There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.”  (Psalm 19:1-3)

We are surrounded by wonder.  “Faith finds weapons everywhere. He who wills to believe shall never lack reasons for believing.”CHS – Treasury of David

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”  (Psalm 19:7)

CONSIDERATIONS
Considerations are postings related to musings in examining  matters in deliberate, thoughtful reflection, asking – What means this?

“Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.” (Job 37:14b)

To consider is to listen, muse, understand and act – to Stop, Think, Acknowledge/Assess, and Respond – STAR.

“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet …  will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matt 6: 28-3)

 THE WAY
The postings in The Way are musings relative to the way (principles and propositions) of the Christian life.  “For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” (Prov. 6:23)This is the Way

Word search “the way,” “a way,” or just plan “way” in Scripture and find 765 results (NKJV).

“For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” (Psa. 1:6)

Consult a dictionary – like Webster’s Dictionary, 1913 – for the “way” and find 12 definitions.  Among them are:  #1. That upon one passes or processes; …a passage; road, street, track, or path of any kind – as… “To find the way to heaven.” – Shakespeare.  #4. Course or direction of motion or process; tendency of action; advance.   #7. Habitual method of life or action; plan of conduct. – “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” (Prov.3: 17)

Disciples of Christ are known as the people of the way  (Acts 9:2; 24:14 & 22).  The Way is axiomatic, self-evident or unquestionable.  It is Christ, who is, and was, and is to come” (Rev 1:8).

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6)
Blessed are the undefiled in the way(Psa. 119:1a)
